Cedric Fisher: "earnestly contending for the faith."

Why Can’t They See?

Why Can’t They See?
Someone recently asked me a question that I have heard often concerning the signs of apostasy and the approaching Antichrist kingdom. She asked, “Why is it that I can see these things, but other Christians don’t seem to see them?” Christ provided an answer in Matthew’s gospel.
“And in them the prophecy of Isaiah is fulfilled, which says: ‘Hearing you will hear and shall not understand, and seeing you will see and not perceive; for the hearts of this people have grown dull. Their ears are hard of hearing, and their eyes they have closed, lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears, lest they should understand with their hearts and turn, So that I should heal them.’” Matthew 13:14-15 (NKJV)

The Greek text implies that the heart is spiritually obese, presumably from ingesting the fruit of the world system. The heart is the core of the soul. As the heart goes, so go the ear and eyes. Hearts that have lost the desire for God’s truth govern ears and eyes that do not desire to hear or read the same. God’s word calls people with such hearts “sleepers”.

The desire to “see” and “hear” is predicated on the heart’s sense of what is important and what is ignorable information. True Christians are guided by the Holy Spirit that inspires their hearts to feed on God’s truth. The fact is, they “see” and “hear” because they desire to “see” and “hear”. Mere “professing” Christians often do not have this deep desire. It is more important to them to gather mundane information by the brain load. Most of it is information they can do without, or that does absolutely nothing to enhance life, or make them more productive for God. A great deal of it flows from the internet and television. It embeds in their minds an ungodly philosophical world view. They certainly do not crave information about the last days. In fact, they either ignore or avoid altogether any references to the topic. Attempting to impart necessary information to them about the last days spoils the warm and fuzzy glow of glow of false security. They have decided to whistle past the graveyard, to “sleep” through the last days and hope they will be exempt from the mayhem.

I would hazard to guess that, based on my experience with and knowledge of, “professing” Christians, that probably ninety percent in our nation never study God’s word. Instead, they will accept verbatim heretical information from religious television, books (including fiction), and even songs. This means that they are dependent on someone else for nearly all the information they need to navigate life, be productive for God, to mature in faith, and to attain everlasting life. I should point out that they will go to great lengths to get information they want. But the information that they need has to practically be forced upon them. Even then, they refuse it.

No wonder we have so many divisions of Christianity. Imagine handing compasses to a large number of people and sending them on a long and dangerous journey. Instead of using their compasses, ninety percent of them ask various individuals how to reach the destination. As a result, some want to go one way, and others want to go a different way. Eventually, the group is splintered into many factions, each insisting that their directions are correct. Of course, only the ones who use their compasses are likely to arrive safe and sound at the right place. Likewise, why become a follower of an individual if you have the Holy Spirit and a Bible? However, the spiritual state of their souls is the same factor that prevents them from hearing or accepting the truth that could awaken them to error. I could ask, “Do you know that you are deceived?” But they might reply, “How can I if I’m deceived?”

The fact is that if one does not feed on God’s word, he or she is totally qualified for deception infection, and most are already carriers. Of course, it is something that “sleepers” do not wish to be informed about. Their “wake me when it’s over” response to God’s prophetic revelation has morphed professing Christianity into a concoction of new age doctrine and psychobabble, meshed with a wide range of heresies and unbiblical practices. This new “Christianity” has been cleverly woven into a large number of churches in America. Further, the unbiblical mixture seems to be snowballing as it goes along, picking up more unbiblical ideas, concepts, and practices from the cult and even occult. The influence is to the extent that the generation coming into leadership does not recognize true Christianity. It is as heresy to them. Most pastors are accepting it because it increases attendance of the Sunday morning meeting. The vast number of hirelings that have taken over pastorates are even promoting it as God’s “new way of doing church”. As a result, there are few churches where truth is preached and few people that even care. In my opinion, the great majority of people converting to Christianity are ascribing to false Christianity. If they could be convinced of true Christianity, those churches would either empty or altars would be filled with repentant sinners.

In conclusion, Christians that “see” and “hear” recognize the deception and apostasy flowing in and spreading out like a great and evil tsunami. If you can still “see” and “hear”, be thankful that your heart has not grown calloused and dull. Rejoice in the fact that God can still warn you. Do not be discouraged when you realize that you are outside the mainstream of this rancid, last days, pseudo-Christianity. Take courage in His word that declares, “I will never leave you or forsake you.” One day when the darkness finally engulfs everything, the Antichrist kingdom is fully set in place, and the horrific events prophesied in God’s word begin to occur, you will be glad that you stood tall and faced the storm. On that day, you will be a “tree of righteousness, the planting of the Lord that He might be glorified.”

Great article, I couldn’t agree more. But I thought the scripture from MATTHEW in the beginning of this article was concerning the Jews & God’s plan of redemption.

People don’t want to see. It is a “willfull” blindness & ignorance. Some really don’t want God’s “truth”. They reject the God of the Bible & His truth, and create their own. Another gospel, another jesus, & a different spirit…

I am sickened at the way the once solid denominations like the c&ma and the church of the Nazarene have gone seeker, purpose driven and filled with young ministers in skinny jeans tickling the ears of the seekers…so sad and yet look up..our redemption draws nigh. To quote vance havner it’s nicer to be an appeaser than an opposer.

Thank you again, dear one, for your Scripture of “I will never leave you or forsake you”. Just tonight, I was praying and crying out to God, and just plain crying…telling my husband that because of this growing apostasy I feel “lonely”. Earlier in the day, a friend (who has been a long-time Christian) gave us a very vitriolic letter calling us “legalists” and other names simply because we’ve held onto the Truth. While emotionally hurt, I’m more grieved that our friend is yet another one who has fallen for this end-times apostasy! The Scripture you quoted is exactly what I needed to hear. I Cor. 15:57&58

I feel sad for you Steph. I hope and pray that friend will come to realize that she’s fallen into the apostasy before it’s too late.

I, too, have friends who don’t care about what’s gonna happen sooner or later. They read any book, but not the silently-waiting Bible. It hurts me when they say it’s boring. One friend even said she cannot swallow reading the Bible because it says frightening things about the end times. She’d prefer not knowing about those alas! :’ (

    @Joyce Spinks
The prophecies in Isaiah may have sounded like it only refers to Jews. Actually, even that old, already-fulfilled prophecy applies to us at present.

Great insights and TRUTH, Cedric. I have been tying for 3 years to open eyes and unstop ears and hardly any will listen or read what I have to say. We can only show them ” the water of life” but it is not our job to make them drink. So sad, the state of this world. But we press on until He comes or we die. I have no other choice, I am “constrained-anagkazo in the Greek, meaning-made to or forced to do SOMETHING. If I sleep, I disobey my calling to “rescue the perishing before it is eternally too late(Jude 23,24). I must speak the truth in love and warning or their blood will be on my hands(Ezekiel 3:17-21)

Just came across truth keepers and it is now in my Christian Favorites shortcuts folder.

Great article. I would encourage everyone to do something to push back against the tide of deception moving across the world. In the end the outcome will be as God decides, not man. I wrote a letter to my extended family which has become a web page for them and any who might see it. No money is solicited, no CD’s or book to purchase, no one to follow except Jesus Christ. http://www.knowingforyourself.com

    Again a very good article.

most elders and professional pulpite-rs do not take the responsibility of the watchman, Ezk. 33: 1-6 to heart.
They live inside the bubble of their little church kingdom.

I have been telling people for a couple of years now that the end is here! God has revealed to me that the great deception will look and feel so much like the real thing that without knowing the bible, without having a close relationship with God, and without the Holy Spirit guiding you it is certain you will be deceived. The end is nigh. I’m ready to do my part and fulfill God’s will for the Kingdom!
