Cedric Fisher: "earnestly contending for the faith."

A World of Delusion

The Apostle Paul wrote to Thessalonica, “And for this reason God will send them strong delusion, that they should believe the lie, that they all may be condemned who did not believe the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.” – 2 Thessalonians 211-12

The reality of that scripture being fulfilled is having to live in a world full of delusional people. Are we there yet? I think so, but their number has not maxed out. Consider that the world system in certain nations has completely cast off all moral restraints. They have gone beyond simply rejecting God to aggressively despising the concept of Him. Christianity, the religion, for the most part has fallen deeply into heresy or apathetic complacency. Many professing Christians have no taste for truth. The majority are not listening or responding to God. Their ears, heart, mind, strength, and hunger crave the offerings of the world system. They are becoming delusional because their sins are reducing love for truth.

“So will I choose their delusions, And bring their fears on them; Because, when I called, no one answered, When I spoke they did not hear; But they did evil before My eyes, And chose that in which I do not delight.” – Isaiah 66:8

Therefore, do not be surprised or dismayed when they do not want to hear anything spiritual. Don’t be discouraged when they do not understand no matter how clear you explain the current state of affairs. In their world, nearly every spiritual principle has swapped positions with diabolical principles. Truth to them is as gibberish; the rantings of someone who is ignorant.

The truth is; if there was ever a time when humanity needed God the most, it is now. But they have forgotten or rejected Him, morphed the concept of Him into a foreign god, and rejected His truth and love for it. The plain fact is that God will not deliver anyone from a delusion.

Delusion is a door slammed eternally shut. It’s like death. In spite of repeated warnings, people take risks. Then one day that gamble results in their death. There are no do-overs. Life is over. Taking risks with sin and rejecting love for truth is to burrow deep into the world system. That choice will end in delusion and eventually death. That’s the truth. I have not been called to force anyone to believe it. I’m only obligated to deliver it.

    Sobering thought, but true.
