Cedric Fisher: "earnestly contending for the faith."

What Do You Smell Like?

“Now when He had taken the scroll, the four living creatures and the twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, each having a harp, and golden bowls full of incense, which are the prayers of the saints.” – Revelation 5:8

It’s near midnight and I was just wondering about something I read concerning prayer. But first, I want to relate a memory from before I became a child of God.

I remember when I was a young man, the people I associated with burned incense to cover up the odor of marijuana smoke. We pretty much knew who smoked pot by the odor of incense on their clothing. And of course that glassy look from the eyes.

Most of us think about God hearing us when we pray. However, there apparently is also an odor. I’m guessing that sincere praying by a godly soul, whose deep desire is to communicate with and know God, is heard and smelled. So I ask, how long has it been since God smelled us praying?

Apparently, the odor lasts long after the words cease. So I also wonder if Satan and his imps smell the odor of prayer on us when we are out and about in the world. It might be true that the minions of darkness do smell prayer on us, and they keep their distance.

Some folks won’t leave the house without soaking their skin with powerful cologne or perfume. They would feel almost naked without it. You do not have to turn around to know that they entered the room. I wonder if we took the same approach with prayer what would be the result. Just wondering. 🙂

I heard your website was hacked. The devil is very active these days and especially against the remnant, true church; so I am not surprised! Good to see you back up in action again. Keep up the good work. I visit your site on a regular basis and feel inspired by your blogs. Like many of your readers we are alarmed at the bad things happening in the so-called Christian churches around the world. I rarely put comments on websites I visit but I felt compelled to send you a few words of encouragement. As a final note I would suggest that your regular readers run an anti-malware checking program on their computers after visiting you blog over the last few months. Just in case. I used Malwarebytes which found a few nasties which I have deleted, but any reliable anti virus/malware program would do as well. May God continue to bless you richly. Peter.

Thank you, Peter. I appreciate the words of encouragement. Continue praying for us. We have installed further protection and personnel. Hopefully, it will not happen again.

A little leaven leavens the whole lump. A little apostasy welcomed into any ministry begets more apostasy. I have reluctantly church hopped for two reasons. It is almost impossible to find an untainted fellowship. Pastor lead church’s refuse to heed anyone outside of their amen choir congregations. ( the humble receive wise council the proud receive it not.) ( show me a humble pastor and I will show you a man who did not call himself into ministry) Rather than standing in the gap against a tidal wave of apostasy they would rather ignore it or ride the wave on a surf board. They may preach seemingly solid sermons but never publicly name names of apostate teachers ministries and movements. For they, Matt. 6: 1-6, practice their piety before men in order in order to seen by them… that they may be praised by men….23: 5-7 they love the place of honor…and being called rabbi ( pastor ) by men. They may even condemn the Pope of the RCC for setting himself up as both the barrier and the bridge to God. Yet pastors dictate who will be allowed to exercise their God given spiritual gifts in THEIR congregation. They treat their church covenants and or handbooks as if they were additions to the inspired scriptures.
I have heard pastors quoting from the Message so called bible. I have heard them recommend the teachings of Rick warren. I have heard them be so focused upon being missional they all but set aside evangelism. I have heard pastors welcome members into their church who are not born again. I have heard pastors beat the members of the flock for not becoming modern day formal members. ( they love to make a big show of welcoming new members. Most even have the congregation vote with yeas and nays. But they never announce that same member leaving in disgust.) This they do in willful defiance of Rom. 14. I am not looking for the perfect church. I simply want a church that is biblical and untainted by the leaven of apostasy. When the vast majority of pastors and elders have little to zero discernment coupled with inflated egos, this is almost impossible.

I wonder if the opposite is true of your comment that demons keep their distance when they smell prayer on the believer. He cares less about those already in his grip and pursues those who belong to God. I know a believer in our church whose son came home in the early hours of the morning to find a satanist on their lawn praying curses over the home and ran away when he arrived. This family are prayer warriors and our area has a lot of satanic covens who know our church and pray against it. We have a lot of spiritual warfare needed because we are a bible believing church. There are attacks on our congregation on many levels.

You could be right. However, I know professing Christians who seldom pray and are being hammered by numerous hardships. I believe he walks about searching for whom he can devour, and also attacks God’s people who are exposing his darkness. No doubt, if your church is standing for truth he will oppose you.
