Well, I have a cat.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t ask for the cat.\u00a0 It proactively sought attachment to my residence.\u00a0 I am uncertain whether the cat even respects the fact that I have tolerated \u201cit\u201d.\u00a0 I say \u201cit\u201d because I don\u2019t know if \u201cit\u201d is male or female.\u00a0 \u201cIt\u201d had no name when \u201cit\u201d arrived that I was aware of.\u00a0 My granddaughter named \u201cit\u201d Milky Way.\u00a0 Two-word cat names are undesirable.\u00a0 Name them Bo, or Spot.\u00a0 It doesn\u2019t matter as long as you say it when the chow is dropped in the bowl.\u00a0 They\u2019ll remember it and respond.\u00a0 However, two-name cats may think you are calling them and someone else.\u00a0 That leads to unwanted and unwarranted cat friction. \u00a0That is unsettling, especially when no other cat is present. \u00a0(The cat\u2019s brain is wired to be a bit paranoid and unpredictable.)\u00a0 I would have called \u201cit\u201d It.\u00a0 It is a good name for a cat.<\/p>\n

Now you may wonder why I didn\u2019t check the gender of that cat.\u00a0 It because it is the most raggedy looking cat I have seen, scruffy from nose to claw. I would call \u201cit\u201d Scruffy, but I hope to improve \u201cits\u201d condition.\u00a0 It looks like it has been, well, in a cat fight.\u00a0 A rather volatile cat fight at that.\u00a0 I do not want to touch its mangy exterior.\u00a0 Further, \u201cit\u201d is a bit skittish and occasionally growls when I get too close.<\/p>\n

The fact is, I do not wish to be near the nasty critter lest it somehow transmit some of its degradation on me.\u00a0 However, I began feeding the unfortunate mammal.\u00a0 So now you must be asking why I even bothered to befriend \u201cit\u201d at all.\u00a0 Maybe because I\u2019m a sucker for impossible cases such as Milky Way.\u00a0 Okay, I felt pity for \u201cit\u201d.\u00a0 The mendicant feline may be too far gone to restore to a proper standard, at least to cat dignity.\u00a0 And cats are way too dignified to suit me.\u00a0 In any case, pity outweighs my repulsion.<\/p>\n

Therefore, I took on the project whilst holding my nose and trying to ignore \u201cits\u201d sorry hide\u2014partially missing and matted with filth.\u00a0 After feeding \u201cit\u201d some table food, I purchased some tins of cat food.\u00a0 Milky Way eagerly consumes it all.\u00a0 However, the highlight of \u201cits\u201d cuisine is no doubt the occasional table food.<\/p>\n

After a number of good meals, Milky Way is beginning to show signs of recovering \u201cits\u201d fur.\u00a0 Further, \u201cit\u201d is beginning to lose fear of me.\u00a0 I\u2019m beginning to expect a full recovery from Milky Way.\u00a0 It is possible that \u201cit\u201d will look like a regular cat again in another week or two.\u00a0 I might even attempt petting \u201cit\u201d.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>Why should I help such a lost cause?\u00a0 What compels me, who has important things to do, who obviously doesn\u2019t need or want a cat, to care about this mangy stray?\u00a0 Why did God help me?\u00a0 I must have been more repulsive than Milky Way.\u00a0 But God loved and loves me\u2014there is no doubt.\u00a0 He also had incomprehensible mercy and grace for me.\u00a0 I didn\u2019t deserve it.\u00a0 I came to Him in my sin-ravaged condition, filthy and repulsive.\u00a0 But He did not turn me away.\u00a0 I believe He put mercy in my heart.<\/p>\n

It doesn\u2019t matter where we\u2019ve been, how much we\u2019ve sinned, or how bad our condition\u2014His infinite, merciful love reaches out.\u00a0 The only thing required is to come and fully surrender to His will.\u00a0 He won\u2019t leave us in our filthy and depleted condition.\u00a0 He intends to restore us not harm us every time we come before Him beseeching His mercy and grace.\u00a0 We don\u2019t deserve it.\u00a0 We didn\u2019t do anything to earn it.\u00a0 It is simply a matter of His love and compassion.<\/p>\n

So I had mercy on Milky Way.\u00a0 I want \u201cit\u201d to recover and become a spectacular cat.\u00a0 I also hope that it will move on to another venue, but that\u2019s probably not going to happen.\u00a0 Now that I am identified as the source of food, that cat is here to stay.<\/p>\n

One last thought is that we don\u2019t have to move away from God, from the source of sustenance.\u00a0 God will feed and nurture us.\u00a0 If we become empty, we can come and He will feed us again. \u00a0Sometimes I come before Him tattered and beaten down by trials.\u00a0 He is always receptive.\u00a0 He never shuts the door in my face.\u00a0 I can come into the Holiest through The Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.\u00a0 He has helped me when I thought situations were beyond any solution.\u00a0 How much more does He care for me than I do for Milky Way?\u00a0 Thank God for His infinite mercy and grace!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
