Cedric Fisher: "earnestly contending for the faith."

When the Prophets prophesy Falsely

“A wonderful and horrible thing is committed in the land; the prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their means; and my people love to have it so: and what will ye do in the end thereof?”

Circulating on Social Media is a prophecy supposedly given exclusively to one individual, Mike Evans, while having breakfast with a prophet, David Wilkerson, in 1986. As soon as I read it I was troubled. Something about it did not ring true. First, why was the prophesy given to one person? Why was it not revealed before now—especially since prophecies are broadcast BEFORE God’s judgments occur?

I watched Evans’ Youtube video, entitled, “The Coronavirus will Bring in a Great Awakening,”  relating Wilkerson’s prophesy. He claims that he wrote down the prophesy as Wilkerson gave it. Perhaps he did, but when I am talking with someone I seldom ever write anything down. Further, I do not say, “Wait—repeat that again so that I can write it down.”

Here is the message that Evans claims Wilkerson spoke to him.

“I see a plague coming on the world and the bars and church and government will shut down. The plague will hit New York City and shake it like it has never been shaken. The plague is going to force prayerless believers into radical prayer and into their Bibles and repentance will be the cry from the man of God in the pulpit. And out of it will come a third Great Awakening that will sweep America and the world.”

Wilkerson was never shy about speaking his important prophecies publicly, writing them in articles, and even books (The Vision). Further, I wonder that if Evans believed it was a significant prophecy in 1986, why didn’t he reveal it to his listeners and followers.

Consider the more recent prophecy by David Wilkerson that does not mention a great plague that will cause another “Great Awakening.”

“I am compelled by the Holy Spirit to send out an urgent message to all on our mailing list, and to friends and to bishops we have met all over the world. An earth-shattering calamity is about to happen. It is going to be so frightening, we are all going to tremble—even the godliest among us.

For ten years I have been warning about a thousand fires coming to New York City. It will engulf the whole megaplex, including areas of New Jersey and Connecticut. Major cities all across America will experience riots and blazing fires — such as we saw in Watts, Los Angeles, years ago.

There will be riots and fires in cities worldwide. There will be looting — including Times Square, New York City. What we are experiencing now is not a recession, not even a depression. We are under God’s wrath…

God is judging the raging sins of America and the nations. He is destroying the secular foundations.”

(Wilkerson further warned people to “lay in store a thirty-day supply of non-perishable food, toiletries and other essentials.”) – David Wilkerson, “An Urgent Message,” March 7, 2009, World Challenge (online)

Wilkerson appears to have forgotten the prophesy that he purportedly gave to Evans in 1986.

The fact is that God’s word does not prophesy of a great, end-times, revival. For years I have been hearing and reading the statements by false prophets and heretics claiming such a thing. It has to be in their narrative or else they would be out of the business of pandering to and cajoling the masses with sugar-coated lies. The idea of a great, end-times, revival came out of Fuller Theological Seminary, which has produced numerous heretics and the New Apostolic Reformation.

“But what’s the harm believing in a great, end-time, revival?”

Because if we are in the end-times, there is a great danger in believing a lie. The great deception will be so clever and intense that “if possible” the very elect could be deceived (Matthew 24:24). This is a time of not only great deception, but a great number of Christians have apostatized. Christianity now presents an open door to every charlatan that wishes to enter in and set up shop.

For years the watchmen have been warning of great apostasy. Now that it has arrived, they are warning people to prepare for a brutal period when their faith will be tested to the extreme. Presuming a prophecy proves that COVID-19 was sent by God to bring the world into another “Great Awakening,” is not only in opposition to the watchmen, but it has the potential to marginalize their warnings and make them of none effect.

God’s word is clear about testing the spirits. Evidently, false prophets are being influenced and likely indwelled by demonic spirits.

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” – 1 John 4:1

Therefore, let’s try the claim that COVID-19 is a prophetic plague that will bring NYC’s apostates to their knees in repentance. Consider an article written in 2018, “Germ City: Microbes and the Metropolis.” It reveals that New York City has been infected with many plagues, including Yellow fever, cholera, typhoid, and influenza. The 1918 “Spanish Flu” killed 30,000 people, and that was when the city was much less populated. Before that in 1883, “Typhoid Mary” brought a plague on the city that killed thousands. The Yellow Fever epidemic from 1795 to 1804 killed thousands of people.

Let’s put things in the proper perspective. Over 125,000 people are living with HIV in NYC and 25% do not know they are infected. Furthermore, over 100,000 have died of HIV. Heart disease causes approximately 45,000 deaths, and cancer another approximately 36,000 deaths. In normal times, there is a death in NYC every 9.1 minutes, about 145 per day or 52,925 per year. In 2018, the flu caused 959,000 hospitalizations and 61,099 deaths nationwide. In NYC, 128,000 there were cases of influenza, 23,317 people were hospitalized, and 4749 died. With presently over 8,550,405 people, a population roughly the number of Israel or Switzerland, and larger than Hong Kong, 4,111 COVID-19 deaths is not a stunning number.

So when a prophecy comes along that will shake NYC as it has never been shaken, I do not believe that COVID-19 fulfills that prophecy. Furthermore, it is not the direct damage that the virus can do that has the attention of God’s Remnant, but the way the Government, expressly, the WHO and CDC, are handling it.

The fact is, apostate professing Christians are not waking up to the truth, regaining the love for truth that they abandoned, and are not showing any signs of repenting. Additionally, the wicked ones appear to become more wicked. We are on the verge of a One-world Government and One-world digital money system. The Protestant leaders surging into ecumenism with the Roman Catholic Church are not repenting. None of the false prophets, heretics, hirelings, and other charlatans that have risen to fame and fortune merchandising GOd’s people have repented.

All I am witnessing that could be construed as a sign is the dedication to religion. I have often said before and it bears repeating, “Christianity today has become Churchianity—the ritual of meeting with an end in itself, and all the trappings thereof.”

Instead of an expression of true Christianity, there appears to be a massive effort to continue ritual meetings—even if it means rolling into a parking lot and listening to a sermon on the radio. Some of those churches may be sincerely attempting to bring some normalcy to the “shutdown.” There may be some good accomplish as a result of “drive-in” church meetings and et cetera.

However, my point is that all that effort does not present evidence of a great awakening. In fact, there is no indication of a great awakening in New York City or any other venue.

I remember clearly that pastors in Oklahoma City remarked that after the Alfred P. Murrah disaster, their churches filled with people. But within a year, their fear dissipated and the attendance was back to normal. People are much colder spiritually now than they were then.

The fact is, compromised professing Christians are thus because they rejected God’s word. They chased God’s men out of the pulpits and replaced them with hirelings and heretics. They refuse to listen to the watchmen and even despise their words. The great conglomeration of apostate Christianity is sinking in a rotting mass, waiting on its revival by ecumenism with Roman Catholicism and other religions, and for the fulfillment of lies by false prophets, heretics, and hirelings.

It is not that I regard David Wilkerson as a false prophet, but he is not infallible. It does not matter who they are—anyone who clashes with the Word of God will not have my approval. No virus that is less deadly than influenza is going to shake professing Christians in NYC or any other venue.

Where in God’s word does it declare that apostates will be sent a plague to shake them and initiate another “Great Awakening?” Is it in 2 Thessalonians 2:1-10 where Paul describes what will occur at the time of the end?

Even if it could be proven that it came from David Wilkerson, I do not receive the prophesy presented by Mike Evans. I intend to trust God’s word, heed the Holy Spirit, and I will try every spirit—especially the ones that do not have a great track record of genuine “words from the Lord.”

You are ‘right on’ with this article. I actually listened to that sermon by David Wilkerson (2009) last night. I think possibly what he was saying could have occurred in NYC in ’09, except that obummer bailed out the city in 2009. So he could have been seeing what would have transpired IF God had allowed it to go on progressing. We still have Revelation 18 not yet fulfilled (IMO) and I believe that chapter could be referring to NYC; with them being a “hotbed” of this virus and the gross mismanagement of officials there. If this is a judgment by God on NYC and Amerika this COULD be the prophecy of Rev. 18 starting to be fulfilled. The Bible says that this happens in an hour but most believe that a hour on God’s timetable is way different than 60 mins.. So what do we do if this is Rev. 18 coming to pass ? I know that we are trying to keep stocked up on essentials, praying, spreading my insights and warning folks to get their affairs in order with God. None of THAT can be BAD, IMO. ………Brother keep on with your warnings. We are praying for you and Cheryl. Keep fighting the ‘good fight of faith until we meet him face to face !!!

A friend of mine sent me this e-mail about two weeks ago, he got it from a lady whom I do not know. He ask me what was my thoughts on it, I told him I would check it out, he ask if I was putting on my facebook I told him I was going to check it out. Later he contacted me again, he ask had I put it out on my Facebook, I said no I didn’t. He ask why not, I told him I wasn’t sure if Dave Wilkerson said it, he ask why, I told him that I am just not comfortable with it in my spirit. He didn’t understand why I didn’t just except it as coming from Dave Wilkerson or that I didn’t feel it was right. We talk about it and Dave Wilkerson, I explain that I wasn’t able to find anything where Dave Wilkerson said it or wrote it.
I read where people claim he said it. I read a short article where someone supposedly had gotten in touch with someone in the Wilkerson Family and ask them about it, they said they never heard anything nor read anything where Dave Wilkerson ever said it. They said he did write a lot of stuff, and if he wrote it, would be somewhere in his writings, but they’ve not seen it.

Truth is, as soon as I read it, it just didn’t bare witness with my spirit. I told my friend this, he wasn’t sure what to think about that. I told him there is plenty of people out there that don’t believe Dave Wilkerson was a prophet and that all his writings didn’t stand up to him being that.

My thing is, The man is dead, he isn’t here to defend this kind of stuff that he supposedly said. Secondly there is nothing in writing that he said it at all. So with that (and believe me, I have read through the years his material) I dismiss it as coming from Dave Wilkerson. I am like Cedric, I am very leery of prophecy’s where they are saying there will be a Great revival, A great awakening for America and so on. I do believe God can and probably will pour out a revival, on individuals, but not the masses.

Absolutey and Amen! I do believe Wilkerson was one of the very few genuine prophets actually. That does not mean absolutely everything he said was from God but I think a lot of it was. However, this particular prophecy is, I believe, a total lie. Like you it did not bear witness in my spirit and I emailed Times Square Church who replied saying they are not aware of any such thing either in his writings or in anything he said.
Regarding a great revival. Well 1) Jesus said that the Gospel must be preached in the whole world and THEN the end will come. 2) I think that end time revival is actually happening. Problem is that we Westerners tend to think we are the Church, forgetting that we are just a tiny part of the worldwide Body of Christ. Thousands or even millions are coming to Jesus right now – but not in the West! Surely God wants to rescue millions before His Wrath comes upon the present world-order.
That does not really make any difference to whether this “prophecy” is true. It is not – it is not from God.

Right. What has been going on for decades, and what will continue is the great apostasy. Why? Because the Bible says so, that’s why. In the end times, of which we are in, that is the prophesy, and anyone who doubts that, well just go look out the window and read your Bible again. The apostasy is just one more in a long line up of end times prophesies being fulfilled. But I saw a video of this too, all the staff of hospitals praying, etc. There will be a false ‘revival’ in the end, which is actually more apostasy, or aka “The Golden Calf Festival” under the false leader in lieu of the true. All these things are put in there for our learning and speak of the future as well. Sure, in any crisis, the masses swarm to the church doors and rush in like sheep squeezing through a narrow gate, but as soon as it’s over, life goes on as usual, including their lukewarm and lack luster spiritual lives. The question to be asking is, “Has anyone repented of their sins, come out of the apostasy and all its heresies, returned to the Savior as He is revealed in Scripture, and crucified the flesh, the lust of the world, and the temptation of the devil upon their lives and very souls???” My guess is…that the answer is a resounding “no.” Then, there will be no revival either!

The fact is; we are on the threshold of the one world government, religion, and economy. It will be a global tyranny rolled in on the vehicle of ‘saving the environment.’ The antichrist (who is already on the world stage) will come out of the ashes to ‘save the earth, world, and humanity’ in their ‘hour of crisis.’ It’s being dismantled and reassembled into the NWO. Most are not ready. We’ve been warning for so long, and no matter how much time we do it, they will still not be ready. Here we are! The storm has landed. Many are waiting with bated breath for all of this to just blow over. But it is just the beginning of the end, or the beginning of sorrows. Many intellectually know facts or falsehoods about the end times, but their hearts are not ready for what is asked of them by God.
Readers, are YOU ready to give your life for Jesus?
Don’t avoid it by finely crafted arguments that avert the question. If faced with the choice today to save your life by denying Him, or lose it by confessing Him, RIGHT NOW, which would you choose? Look in your heart and be honest with yourself. If need be, get right with God and get ready right NOW!

    God bless you!

It’s telling to see how divided Christendom is over the significance of this virus. I’ve been hearing and reading about revival for over 30 years now, but all I see is progressive apostasy, so I’m not holding my breath. Thanks for your prophetic voice… David

    • C.H. Fisher

David Wilkerson did not make that prophesy. His family and friends, and Times Square Church denies that he made it. The false prophet is Mike Evans. Further, God’s word does not declare a great endtimes revival, but a great apostasy. It has arrived.

  6. Bryan

I want to point out….David Wilkerson said MANY TIMES….”I am not a prophet but a watchman”. He never claimed to be a prophet.. I wholeheartedly believe David Wilkerson was a man truly touched by God. You could hear in his voice the trembling and the honesty that he brought forth to his congregation in the people he was speaking to. He was very transparent about his own struggles and he always preached to himself as well as others. I think one of his most profound messages that went unheard sadly was called “The Gospel of Accommodation”. He said “if I EVER had a prophetic word it is this one. He spoke it here in Springfield MO at a chapel service…..it was directed to the Assemblies of God but also to ALL ministers and churches. I encourage anyone that has not heard it to give an ear…..

    • C.H. Fisher

Clearly, I did not declare that David Wilkerson is a false prophet. Please read the article again. In my opinion the false prophet is Mike Evans, who connected what he claimed was a prophesy from David Wilkerson to the Covid-19 fiasco and made claims in his message “The Coronavirus Will Usher in a Great Awakening.” No, it will not. God’s word does not declare that there will be a Great Awakening in the endtimes, but a Great Apostasy. That apostasy has arrived and has crippled Christianity. The idea of a Great Awakening/Revival comes from the heretical New Apostolic Reformation.

  7. Matsson

I agree with you. Rather than bringing forth a revival, this pandemic seems to give someone a splendid opportunity to test how people can be manipulated to obey certain orders globally at the same time. As such, it will strengthen the development towards the global antichristian totalitarianism.

  8. Gail

First David did proclaim this outright and if you search his sermons you will find it. It was not only to mike but he preached this everyone first in a sermon. Get your facts right before you downplay. Second I personally knew David and talked with him many times. And yes when he did have a conversation about this it was personal and that is where you are mixing this up. David was and will always be a true prophet with no doubt. It was that personal conversation like with me that he probably had with mike that made you feel that it was personally just for you. David made every person he had contact with feel special and very much so loved. But I too was told. So mike did not receive a special warning it was the same warning that David gave to everyone willing to listen to. Please go back and learn before you speak cause it’s there.

First,Julie (Wilkerson) Klose, the niece of David Wilkerson and the daughter of Rev. Don Wilkerson, co-founder of Brooklyn Teen challenge, said, “The quote by David Wilkerson was pieced together by someone who took some of his prophecies to make a new quote. While he was a prophetic teacher, please don’t misuse his words. Integrity counts even with prophetic voices and teaching. Source your quotes!”

Times Square Church made an announcement after receiving numerous inquiries about the quote that has gone viral: “To the best of our knowledge, David Wilkerson has never made this statement, either in his prophetic books or in his recorded messages.”

On the issue of whether Wilkerson is a true prophet or not, clearly, I did not declare that David Wilkerson was a false prophet. Please read the article again. I happen to believe Wilkerson was a prophet. In my opinion, the false prophet is Mike Evans who connected what he claimed was a prophesy from David Wilkerson to the Covid-19 fiasco and made claims in his message “The Coronavirus Will Usher in a Great Awakening.” No it will not. God’s word does not declare that there will be a Great Awakening in the endtimes, but a Great Apostasy. That apostasy has arrived and has crippled Christianity. The idea of a Great Awakening/Revival comes from the heretical New Apostolic Reformation.

I can’t seem to find the video of Evan’s message where he claimed to use David Wilkerson’s prophecy–just clips on YouTube. I did discover that Evans has a book for $16.99 entitled, A Great Awakening is Coming, also advertising the fake David Wilkerson prophecy.
